Tableau Embedded Multi-tenant Servers

Upgrades to cloud multi-tenant Tableau servers.

DataSelf/Tableau Release Notes:

Tableau Upgrades: Tableau has been around for 20+ years. It's a stable and well-developed platform. Salesforce Inc releases new Tableau Server versions every three quarters (and minor releases every month or so). Such releases usually cause no disruptions to our clients.

Upgrade Frequency: DataSelf upgrades our AWS cloud multi-tenant Tableau servers at the same pace as Salesforce releases new Tableau Server versions. However, we usually wait for Tableau’s 1st or 2nd minor release for reliability purposes. We test Tableau releases before upgrading our servers.

Critical Security Patches: DataSelf applies critical security patches soon after Salesforce releases them. We test Tableau releases before applying security patches.

Notification: We notify our clients about our upcoming Tableau Multi-tenant maintenance and upgrades. We perform them on Saturdays, the system goes offline for a few hours, and we notify when it’s online again.

Dedicated Tableau Servers & Other Upgrade Paths

Please contact us if you want to leverage the latest Tableau releases or be on a different release schedule than our multi-tenant Tableau servers. We can assist in assessing and transitioning your Tableau to a dedicated Tableau server instance, to an on-premises/private cloud environment, or Tableau Retail or Online.

Tableau Server

  • Clients using our multi-tenant Tableau Server Cloud platform are upgraded/patched as per the schedule above.

  • The upgrade/patches to on-premise Tableau Embedded Servers are usually done within a couple of weeks after the schedule above.

Tableau Creator (Desktop and Prep)

We recommend having Tableau Desktop with the same version as Tableau Server.
